Heartstopper renewed for TWO more seasons

Heartstopper, the new Netflix series based on a graphic novel by Alice Oseman, has just been confirmed for not one, but two more series! The hit show sees teenagers, gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick, played by Joe Locke and Kit Connor, forming an unlikely friendship, which turns into something more.

The news was announced by Netflix UK, who wrote on Twitter: '✌️ more seasons of Heartstopper! 🍂🍂'. sharing a photo of the illustrator Alice, having just completed a sketch of the main characters with a heart above them and the words '2 more seasons'.

The news was also confirmed by one of the stars of the show, Joe Locke, who plays Charlie. He shared four photos from the show, saying: 'What was that? Not just one, but TWO more seasons???'.

The first season of the show has been extremely successful, with the show reaching the Netflix Top Ten list in 54 countries.

Kit and Joe joined us to Answer The Internet recently, and Kit, who plays the role of bisexual teenager Nick Nelson, revealed that Nick was an "extremely special character" to him. He went on to say: "I think there's not enough bisexual representation in mainstream media, or really any kind of media."

Joe also revealed at the BAFTAs who his ideal casting for season two of Heartstopper would be and you might not be surprised after this Jennifer Coolidge impression in the video above!

Meanwhile, following the success of the show, Yasmin Finney, who plays Elle in Heartstopper, has been cast for Doctor Who's 60th anniversary special.

Heartstopper series one is available to stream now on Netflix.
