Coronation Street celebrates its 60th anniversary sharing amazing throwback photo
There have been 10190 episodes
This week, Coronation Street is celebrating a massive 60 years, and to coincide with the celebrations ITV have shared a number of photos, messages and videos.
These days, Coronation Street now occupies ‘the biggest single television production site in the world’, which is a 7.7 acre site in Trafford, MediaCityUK, however it wasn't always that way.
The set that viewers see today is the fifth interpretation of Coronation Street, with the interior scenes of the soap in the first year of production taking place in Studio 2 at Granada. And ITV shared an amazing throwback pic of what it was like all those years ago.
Back then there was just one wooden set which represented The Street and the infamous cobbles were painted onto the studio floor!
In 2014, Coronation Street moved to its new purpose built, state-of-the-art production centre, and the lot has been extended since then, to include Victoria Street. The site is now home to six dedicated studios as opposed to the original four!
Since the popular TV show's beginning there have now been 10190 episodes, and it has been sold to over 130 countries, with tens of millions of viewers.
Now take a look through this week's Coronation Street spoilers:
