After being vilified by the public for falsely claiming that her Celebrity Big Brother housemate Ryan Thomas had punched her, Roxanne Pallett has completely fallen from grace. The former Emmerdale actress apologised for her actions in two separate interviews, but has decided to step back from showbiz after the backlash from the show.

Although the public have slammed her apologies as being "insincere," some celebrities have come forward to say that enough is enough, throwing their support behind Roxanne after the chaos that was caused by the show - which Ryan won in last night's final (10th Sept).

One of those celebrities who's now calling for everything to die down is Loose Women panellist Janet Street-Porter, who defended Roxanne on today's show (11th Sept).

She said, "I was reading about it online and on social media and then it just came to a point with this girl where I thought, 'enough'.

"What do you want? Do you want something dreadful to happen to her in a public place? You have to accept that young people make mistakes. She did something that was totally out of order, and we can’t go on punishing people."

Her comments were backed up by fellow panellist Saira Khan, who spoke out about Roxanne's interview with Jeremy Vine, "We don’t know her backstory. There’s something not quite right.

"I think Jeremy Vine was quite right not to push her that far because he got criticised for not being hard enough. I think, you look at young people and how they deal with their mental health state, it doesn’t always end well and the media can’t be responsible for that."

In other news, the civilian Big Brother starts on Friday (14th Sept) at 9pm on Channel 5 - so prepare for even MORE drama.
