Last updated 2nd Oct 2025
Alison Hammond's TV career has taken off massively in the last few years! Not only is she now a permanent Friday host on This Morning, Alison presents The Great British Bake Off, as well as the new series of For The Love Of Dogs, where she's taken over from the late Paul O'Grady.
Earlier this year, the 50-year-old from Birmingham also landed her very own BBC entertainment show called Alison Hammond's Big Weekend, where she was joined by some very familiar faces. However, it sounds like it won't be returning any time soon.
Will there be a second series?
According to reports in early October 2025 by TV Zone, BBC bosses have decided to shelve the programme after just one series. However, the BBC are yet to officially comment.
As we await more news, here's everything you need to know about Alison Hammond's Big Weekend.
What is the show about?
Announced on Monday 8th April 2024, BBC bosses revealed the brand new six-part series would see Alison spend 48 hours with some of the UK's biggest celebs, giving viewers an exclusive glimpse into their homes and lives.
Made by BBC Studios Entertainment, the series was full of 'big laughs, big revelations, and a whole load of celebrity realness'.
Alison said of the show: “I’m so excited to serve up some big lols and tons of OMG revelations on the BBC as I spend some quality time with some of the UK’s favourite celebrities. When I’m on a mission no secret is safe, and trust me no stone or cupboard will go unturned!”
Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC said: “Alison is one of the most warm-hearted presenters in the UK and it’s no surprise that big name celebrities are lining up to have her spend the weekend at their homes. It’s going to be a blast!”
Mel Balac, Creative Director for Entertainment at BBC Studios added:“Alison is the perfect woman for the job. She wears her heart on her sleeve and her incredible openness, energy and warmth will shed new light on the celebrities she spends the weekend with. When Alison comes knocking it’s a special appointment you won’t want to miss!”
Which celebs were on the show?
Six celebs were announced, including Sir Lenny Henry, Perrie Edwards, Jimmy Carr, Mel B, Luke Evans and Tony Bellew.
When asked what was the most surprising thing she learnt from her celebrity guests, Alison told the BBC: "Well, first off Jimmy Carr chooses to get into an ice bath for fun. I mean, who does that?! Then there’s Mel B, who is not just a Spice Girl but a full-blown farm girl with goats and chickens! And Lenny Henry? That man has stories for DAYS I had to stop a few times just to take it all in!"
Episode one: Perrie Edwards
Episode two: Jimmy Carr
Episode three: Luke Evans
Episode four: Mel B
Episode five: Lenny Henry
Episode six: Tony Bellew
Is there a trailer?
Yes, on the 9th May a trailer for the new series was released, you can watch it below.
When was it on TV?
The new series kicked off on Friday 16th May at 8.30pm on BBC One, with weekly episodes.
Speaking about what her personal highlight is from the show, Alison said: "Oh, babes, where do I start? Learning to horse ride with Luke Evans felt like I was in a full-on period drama! Sparring with Tony Bellew? I gave it my best shot (literally). And meeting Perrie Edwards’ lovely mum and her little boy Axel? That was such a special moment. But honestly, just the simple moments in having a proper natter, and getting to know these celebs in a way you don’t usually see, that’s the real magic!"
How can I watch it?
All episodes from series one are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.

For many of us, this was the first we'd ever see of TV darling and ultimate hun, Alice Hammond. But who could have seen her stratospheric success following her 2002 debut on Big Brother? Here's how she did it...
Before entering the mile-a-minute world of early '00s reality TV, Alison worked as an actress and had parts in 1997 drama The Locksmith and Doctors.
But it was her time in the Big Brother house, among other household names like Kate Lawler and Jade Goody house that really launched her rising star, and she left 11th place - WHAT were we thinking?
Later that year, Alison was invited to join the panel of ITV's Loose Women for the first time, and went on to become a regular fixture.
It was the following year though that Alison really came into her own as a valued member of the ITV family, landing the job of UK showbiz correspondent.
And BOY, did she smash it, with some of the most memorable and HILARIOUS interviews of all time (yes, we went there) under her belt. There was the enduring love affair with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson...
... the most magical Christmas moment since the birth of Jesus Christ...
... the undeniable flirty tension between her and Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise (back when he was slightly less problematic)...
And, who could forget, the time she met Arnie. Basically, Alison's phonebook is a who's who of the Hollywood elite.
But don't go thinking that megawatt celebrity interviews were the one string to her bow, think again. She's been a regular fixture on reality TV ever since 2002, and in 2004 joined Celebrity Fit Club.
It was only a matter of time really, wasn't it? In 2010, the fate of her career was well and truly sealed when she was invited into the jungle alongside Stacey Solomon, Gillian McKeith and Shaun Ryder, placing 10th.
Slightly less high-profile (but undoubtedly a whole lot more luxurious - even with the on-board toilets), in 2012 she starred on Celebrity Coach Trip where she visited Trieste, Italy, and Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Fast forward to 2014 and she joined the celebrity line up of MasterChef, but despite her best efforts in the kitchen missed on first place to actress Sophie Thompson.
Later in 2014, Alison, the humble gal from Birmingham, scored the holy trifecta of reality TV when she took part in Strictly Come Dancing with pro dancer Aljaž Škorjanec, placing 10th.
Alison made her children's TV debut in 2016 with a role in CBBC favourite and Tracy Beakers spin off, The Dumping Ground. She played steely, scary Ofsted inspector Rowena Spike.
Possibly one of the most underrated reality TV shows of the decade, the Celebrity Haunted Mansion opened it's doors to Alison in 2018, along with the likes of Simon from Blue, Katie Price, Luisa Zissman, Made In Chelsea's Marc Frances, TOWIE's Lydia Bright, and Corrie's Simon Gregson. WTH?
In 2019, Alison joined the cast of one of our fave dating shows, Celebs Go Dating. She had something of a romantic dalliance with TOWIE's James Lock, an obligatory break down on the agency sofa, and cemented herself as queen of our hearts.
Proving she's got a heart as big as her personality, in 2020 Alison joined the group of celebs under the marquee for the Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake off.
During the pandemic, Alison turned her hand to some serious reporting when she went back to school for an ITV documentary by the same name in a bid to have Black history added into the UK curriculum. Noble work indeed.
The ultimate career highlight: in late 2020, Alison landed the coveted role of This Morning host alongside Dermot O'Leary, taking over the Friday show from Ruth and Eamonn Holmes.
