As the flowers begin to bloom and the days stretch longer, a familiar and inspiring movement is returning to our streets. The Great British Spring Clean is officially back for 2026 and running from 13 March to 29 March.

When we all join forces and show we love where we live, the difference we can make is huge.

Since Keep Britain Tidy launched this initiative in 2016, an army of millions—known affectionately as Litter Heroes—has stepped up to protect our environment. Together, they have pledged to collect over 4.5 million bags of rubbish, proving that when we join forces, the impact is massive.

Why Get Involved in Your Local Community?

Our environment and wildlife face grave and ongoing threats from the impact of litter. By grabbing a litter-picker, you aren't just cleaning a path - you are:

  • Protecting Local Wildlife: Removing hazards from parks and coastlines
  • Boosting Mental Health: Studies show that outdoor volunteering can reduce stress, improve your mood, and help you feel more connected to your neighbourhood
  • Restoring Community Pride: Clean, attractive spaces encourage others to respect their environment and can even help reduce anti-social behaviour

How can I be a Litter Hero?

The beauty of the Great British Spring Clean is its accessibility. Whether you are a community group or an individual with ten minutes to spare while walking the dog, every bag makes a difference.

How can I make my pledge?

Help transform our streets, parks, and beaches into places we can all be proud of.
