Tom Walker reveals the heartbreaking inspiration behind 'Wait For You'

Jordan Lee has been presenting his Evening Show from his childhood bedroom during the Coronavirus Pandemic, but that doesn't stop him getting some of the biggest guests around to join him on Hits Radio.

On Thursday (11th June) Jordan was joined by Tom Walker, on the day that he dropped his song 'Wait For You', which he wrote while he was in lockdown in his new house.
What is Tom Walker's song 'Wait For You' about?
Speaking to Jordan, Tom revealed that there was a heartbreaking inspiration behind the song. "This is a song about a mate of mine who went through something really traumatic about 15 years ago," Tom explained.
"It affected him and his family. And it kind of shocked them down to the core."

Tom continued, "It took them so long to recover, if you fast forward 15 years, you meet this person now, he’s one of the happiest outgoing, loveliest people you’ve ever met and living proof that even when times are diabolically hard you can overcome them. And I kind of thought that message was a good message for right now."
Why did Tom Walker write 'Wait For You'?
The 'Leave A Light On' singer went on to reveal that he writes about the highs and lows, and being in lockdown has given him the opportunity to write a lot. However, he's also been doing up his new house, which he moved into just as the lockdown started.
After releasing the song, Tom took to Twitter to share a video where he thanked everyone for the reception this song has received.
Who is in the music video for 'Wait For You'?
Tom's music video features a number of dancers from around the world. In the video they can be seen dancing everywhere from roof gardens, inside houses, huge fields and in deserted streets.
