James Arthur reveals which artists would be his ideal collab đź‘€
How can we make this happen?
James Arthur joined Sam Thompson on his new Hits UK show on Hits Radio and he gave us all the news. Opening up to Sam, James told how 2022 had been quite the year for him, both professionally and personally.
He said working on his mental health documentary took its toll on him, but it was great to be working on new music. He also revealed that the arrival of his daughter Emily had: "Been amazing," although he hasn't slept much!
Who would James Arthur like to collab with?
With a great collab released to start the year, Sam asked James if he could pick some American artists to work with, who would it be. And without hesitation he revealed that as he has a "country-leaning song' on his album it would have to be two very popular singers.
"I'd love Taylor Swift to be part (of it), or Miley Cyrus," he told Sam: "Those girls cross over into the country and pop world and I'm kind of going there on this new album."
What was James Arthur's mental health documentary?
During 2022, James was working on a mental health documentary for BBC Three called James Arthur: Out of Our Minds, which is currently available to watch on iPlayer.
The singer told Sam the documentary was super rewarding and educational, but it: "Took its toll on me a little bit," going on to explain that you have to go "to the depths", and meet people who are going through tough times.
"I myself began that journey in a bad place," he explained, continuing: "As time went on, I started making an album and the documentary came out and it received a lot of praise."
Why wasn't James convinced his new song would be a hit?
James has just released his new song 'Work With My Love' and he said: "It's good to be back," but when asked if he instantly knew it was going to be a banger, he said he didn't!
He went on to explain how, when he first heard the sample ('Lola's theme'), he didn't think they would be able to clear it, but Alok's team did it!
He thought it would be a challenge, and when he put the vocal on it, the reaction was great, but he was still unsure to begin with, because he thought people would like someone reworking the dance classic.
Sam admitted this song is the perfect way to start the new year, and James agreed saying: "The initial plan for me was in January or February to come with the first single from my new music. Typically my music is more sad and heart-wrenching, but I sort of thought, I'm not quite ready to do that and this song presented itself at the right time."
What sort of music does James like?
James also revealed that he would like to work on some more dance music, but generally he likes to work on rock and pop music. He did however admit he loves house music and would be up for a night out with Sam! 🙌
