Westlife made a huge comeback in 2019 with the Ed Sheeran-penned 'Hello My Love', which went to Number 2 in the Irish charts, as well as being certified 2x Platinum. But it wasn't just that song Ed wrote for the band!
'Hello My Love' appeared on Westlife's 12th album 'Spectrum', released in November 2019, and while band members Mark Feehily and Shane Filan contributed to some of the songwriting, they also hired Ed along with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and singer James Bay.
Which songs did Ed Sheeran write for Westlife?
Ed wrote Westlife's comeback single 'Hello My Love', and also contributed to a few other tracks on their album 'Spectrum' - namely 'Better Man', 'My Blood', 'Dynamite' and 'One Last Time'.
Although it wasn't confirmed at the time of 'Hello My Love's release, an insider close to Ed told Metro.co.uk that Ed also wrote Westlife's new song 'Anywhere', another 'feel-good love song' that did not appear on the album. According to their source, Ed Sheeran registered the song on the 3rd January with Steve Mac listed as producer.
The source added, "The song is likely to go to another artist if Ed chooses not to release music this year and is being considered for the Westlife album because he’s already working on that project."
Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan dropped the popular music video for 'Hello My Live' shortly after they released the song. The video sees the band in a rocky location as the sun rises they find themselves in a huge hot air balloon.
