He's one of the biggest stars on the planet with four massive studio albums and singles such as 'The A Team', 'Shape Of You' and 'Shivers', so we were HYPED to have the amazing Ed Sheeran perform at Hits Live Liverpool on Friday 19th November.

Ed joined an amazing line-up of artists including The Script, Mimi Webb, Mabel, Becky Hill, Joel Corry, Tom Grennan and Ella Henderson at the M&S Bank Arena Liverpool for the event.

Ahead of his amazing performance, the 30-year-old spoke to Fleur, James and Matt about his upcoming Christmas song with legendary musician Sir Elton John, revealing the music video is the best he's ever filmed!

After humming part of the upcoming new song and revealing a line of "I know there's been pain this year", Ed confirmed the music video is a parody of East 17, Shakin' Stevens and The Snowman.

As if that doesn't sound amazing enough, Ed exclusively told us the one and only MR BLOBBY will make an appearance! 🤣

If you're a fan of the singer, you most likely witnessed Ed's recent Instagram upload where he was wearing a Christmas dress...

Well, we have answers! The singer told us he was initially due to be Mr Christmas herself Mariah Carey, but unfortunately they didn't get clearance so had to scrap the idea.

Despite not giving us an official release date for the new single, Ed did confirm fans will be able to hear it in around two weeks time! 🙌

Ed's performance at Hits Live Liverpool arrives following a massive year for the singer.

After teasing us all in May that he was about to drop new music, following a hiatus in 2020, Ed released his comeback single 'Bad Habits' in June, before dropping the massively popular tracks 'Shivers' and 'Overpass Graffiti'.

He didn't stop there, Ed later released his fourth studio album '=' in October, before announcing a 2022 World Tour.

In other Ed news, it looks like he's about to team up with music legend Sir Elton John for a brand new Christmas song!

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon earlier this month, Ed revealed that a song is in fact written. He later uploaded a very festive snap to Instagram alongside Elton, writing: 'Coming soon. We can't wait!'. (sic)
