On 4th August 2024, Cian Ducrot celebrated one year since he released his debut album 'Victory'. The album went to Number 1 and he later released a choir and strings version which featured his brother Eoin, a violinist. The album was hugely popular, spawning four hit singles and topping the charts in the UK and Ireland.

Now, a year later, the singer has taken to social media to tell his fans that he will be celebrating the one-year anniversary, with one week of material that has not been previously released.

'Victory's one-year anniversary

Cian explained in an Instagram Story: "It's insane that it's been one year since my debut album 'Victory', thank you again, it's been such an incredible year. My debut album was just, you know, stuff of dreams, but there's so much stuff that we did, that we filmed, the content that we have, (it's) never got to see the light of day.

"And we have a lot of special stuff that I really want to share with you guys, so we're doing a special one week of celebrations to celebrate one year of the 'Victory' album.

"So if you want to get some of that stuff, that exclusive stuff, we're releasing it already, starting today (4th August), so you can click on this link and then you'll get access to all that stuff, and I can't wait for you guys to see all of it, and I love you so much. And, see you all very soon."

'Victory's release in August 2023

Taking to Instagram on his album's release day, Cian shared a lovely video of him singing his hit 'I'll Be Waiting' to a packed crowd on the streets of Cork. Along with footage from the performance, the video also featured the words: 'Celebrating the release of my debut album. Bringing it back to the street where it all started. Never imagined I'd get to do this one day. Thank you for everything! Enjoy the album.'

'Victory': Choir and Strings version

Sharing the news of the Choir and Strings version on Instagram, Cian said: 'Buzzed to tell you the Choir and Strings version of my album is out now everywhere!! So delighted to share these! The amazing choir you all know as well as strings by my brother @eoinducrot5 and @onomeya.alfredoferre 🤍🤍 let me know what you think.'

What was 'Victory' about?

Cian shared some of the personal experiences that shaped his music, including experiencing childhood trauma. Cian said: 'To begin to understand the album there's some things you need to know about my life, where I came from, how I was raised, and the kind of kid I was.

'A broken home at an early age is where the story really began, my mom, my brother and I became a team and music was our saviour.

'It saved us mentally and spiritually but it also allowed my mom to literally put food on the table. My dad was very abusive growing up both physically and sexually, my mother fought extremely hard to protect my brother and I, and to get us away from him.

'It wasn’t easy, it seemed like everything required years of fighting and perseverance. I have my mom to thank for the person I am today. When I dropped out of college to pursue being a songwriter, when not one person believed in me, I reflected on our past.

'This album represents that victory, the victory of self-belief, the victory of everyone around me who I love and who loved me back, the story of my brother, of my mother, of my grandparents, of my friends, and everyone who fought by our side every step of the way.

'This album is for all of those people and my amazing fans, we made it out alive and more. This is for us. This is Victory 🤍.'
