Tom Hanks has delighted children and adults alike as the voice of cowboy Woody in the Toy Story film franchise since 1995 when the first film was released. The story of Woody's friendship with space toy Buzz Lightyear has lasted throughout the last two decades, and is set to continue this year with the fourth installment in the films being released in June 2019.

And according to Tom, all his recording work for the upcoming movie is completely finished, as he shared a poignant photo on Twitter yesterday.

Sharing a snap of the cast laughing together as he finished his final lines as Woody, Tom wrote, 'Final line, final session as Woody of Toy Story 4. We rode like the wind, to infinity and beyond.'

Fans became hugely emotional over the photo, which has already had 112,000 likes in less than 12 hours. One wrote, 'Seeing the 1st when I was a kid and now I will get to share the final one with my kids. Thanks for bringing us all along for the ride! So long partner!'

Another added, 'Your voice makes this character. Thank you, Hanx. We can learn a lot from Toy Story' and one other wrote, 'The end of an amazing era. Thanks for everything you do Hanks.'

Although not much has been revealed about the storyline in the upcoming movie, many fans are wondering where the plot will go after the toys were handed down by Andy to his neighbour, Bonnie.

We do know there are at least three new characters - Forky, voiced by Arrested Development's Tony Hale, who seems to be a spork with googly eyes; there's also carnival characters Ducky and Bunny, voiced by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele.

Toy Story 4 will be released in cinemas on 21st June 2019.
