Disney's live-action remakes of all their old animated classics are coming in thick and fast - this year alone they've released Dumbo, Aladdin and most recently, The Lion King. Now, The Little Mermaid is next on the list - we've already got casting for Ariel herself in the form of Halle Bailey, as well as her sidekicks Flounder and Scuttle.

There are also rumours that One Direction's Harry Styles could join the project as Prince Eric, and Terry Crews has thrown his hat into the ring to be King Triton - with fans also pleading for Gordon Ramsay to have a cameo as the angry chef Louis.

But one persisting rumour in particular that just won't quit is Melissa McCarthy taking on the role of villainous sea witch Ursula.

Since the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid was announced, rumours have swirled that the comedy genius could be playing Ursula - and she's now addressed the rumours in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

When inevitably asked about taking part in the film, the Bridesmaids actress said, "I hadn’t heard about that. It seems like it would be an awfully fun thing to do. I’d love if Disney gave me a little ringy-dingy."

But she then turned to directly face the camera, in a way that made viewers certain that it was happening, saying, "We’ll see. If It did it would be very wonderful, Disney."

Is this her way of hinting that it's happening, or her way of saying she'd love to do it?! We need to know!

But Melissa isn't the only person who'd love to play Ursula as 'Juice' singer Lizzo has revealed she'd love to take on the role. In October, she tweeted a video of herself practising an evil laugh with the caption, 'Just gonna put this back out there. 🗣IT IS MY DREAM TO PLAY URSULA IN THE LIL MERMAID Here’s my audition tape... @Disney.' sic

She also filmed herself in full Ursula get-up for Halloween and posted a video singing Ursula's signature tune, 'Poor Unfortunate Souls'.

We're torn!
