As any Disney fan will know, the massive film company have been churning out live-action remakes of their classic animated films. This year alone we've seen Aladdin and The Lion King, with many more, including Lady and the Tramp coming up later this year.

So, it's almost no surprise that Disney have been breaking records left, right and centre. The most recent record to be broken is one of their own, previously set in 2016. Now, the huge film company, which acquired many of 21st Century Fox's entertainment assets this year, has taken more than $7.67 billion worldwide, so far this year - and it's only July!

The previous record held by Disney, three years ago, was $7.61 billion, but that was for the whole year.

One of Disney's most recent releases was The Lion King, starring Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is Simba’s love interest Nala and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Simba’s father, Mufasa. In its opening weekend, the film took $185m (£149m) from nearly 5,000 cinemas in North America - beating other remakes, including Beauty And The Beast, released in 2017.

Of course, it isn't just the remakes that are proving very popular for Disney. Films such as Toy Story 4 were released earlier this year, and proved to be a massive hit with fans, taking around £13.3m in its opening week.
