We're just a few months away from the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Since the announcemenent of their engagement back in November 2017, we have been drip-fed information about the special day including the date, venue, timings, guests and now, the cake!

Details of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake have been revealed by Kensington Palace on Twitter who said, 'For their wedding cake Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen pastry chef Claire Ptak, owner of the London-based bakery @violetcakes.'

The Palace went on to reveal that they would be moving away from the traditional fruitcake and have chosen a 'Lemon elderflower cake that will incorporate the bright flavours of spring. It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.'

A third tweet from the Palace explained that Claire Ptak 'Was raised in California,' and 'focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes'. According to Kensington Palace Meghan has previously interviewed Claire for her 'Former lifestyle website The Tig'.

On the Violet Cakes website Claire explains, 'Violet is my small bakery based in East London. I started my business as a market stall on Broadway Market, cooking from home before opening the café in 2010.'

She continues, 'All of my cakes are baked with organic flour, sugar, milk and eggs. Many of the other ingredients are organic as well, like our Madagascan vanilla pods and pure cane molasses.'

The pastry chef also has a Instagram account which is followed by celebrities including Jamie Oliver and Florence Welch. The account shows off some of her creations including a 'Mocha gluten free birthday cake' given to Jools Oliver (Jamie Oliver's wife), and a 'Date dream cake. Refined sugar free, gluten free, vegan'.

Earlier this month details of who would be invited to the wedding were revealed. Away from the speculation of celebrity guests such as the Spice Girls, Elton John and Ed Sheeran, the couple revealed would like to invite quite a few members of the public!

In a statement released on Twitter it says 'Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have said they want their Wedding Day to be shaped so as to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations too. This wedding, like all weddings, will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the characters and values of the Bride and Groom.'

It goes on to explain how 2,640 people will be invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle to watch the arrivals of the Bride and Groom, made up of the following:

1,200 members of the public from every corner of the United Kingdom will be nominated to attend by nine regional Lord Lieutenant offices. The couple has asked that the people chosen are from a broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities.

Last November Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement with a photoshoot showing off the beautiful engagement ring that Prince Harry designed himself.
