Last updated 5th Dec 2024
We'd like to wish a huge congratulations to our very own Fleur East, and her husband Marcel Badiane-Robin, as Fleur has given birth to the couple's first child!
Fleur announced the amazing news on social media over the weekend, where she revealed she welcomed a baby girl called Nova on Monday 22nd March.
Sharing a photo of herself holding her newborn in a carrier, Fleur wrote: 'And just like that, our baby girl, Nova, is here!! Our daughter entered the world via squat position into the arms of my Husband and I on our living room floor! 🤣
'One day I will share my birth story with you (what a RIDE!), but for now, we are resting and doing well. So thankful to the amazing midwives who were by my side, my birthing partners (my auntie Tina and my Husband @marcel__robin ) and all of our family who have been helping out and showering us with love. It really does take a village! So grateful to God for this blessing. Our little Nova was born on the 22nd March and it feels like she’s always been here. ❤️😘🍼✨'. (sic)
Fleur's friends and fans were quick to comment on the cute photo.

Just days after announcing the birth, Fleur took part in a Q&A with fans on her Instagram Story, answering the all-important questions about motherhood and her labour.
How does it feel being a mumma to a beautiful little girl?
Fleur said: 'It feels amazing! We had no idea what we were having, so I had no expectations. But now she's here, I wouldn't have it any other way. She's perfect'.
How's Nova's sleeping patterns?
Fleur said: 'She's starting to sleep in 4 hour blocks at night! Which is great because that gives us time to sleep or NAP! Sleep is a thing of the past right now! Ha ha but she's getting better at napping and sleeping at night'. (sic)
How's mummy life going? How's baby Nova?
Fleur said: 'It's going well , thanks! Up and down days. Some days are so tough and challenging and others are more enjoyable. But ALL of it is worth it. Nova is doing really well. Feeding well and getting bigger by the day'. (sic)
What did you think to labour?
Fleur said: 'How much space do I have to write? Labour was by far the toughest thing I've done so far! It was so tough. But I managed to cope with hypnobirthing techniques and gas and air! Thank God for gas and air and hypnobirthing. It was a very empowering experience'. (sic)
Any tips for labour and delivery?
Fleur said: 'Well, every single person's experience will be different. But the way you handle things in your mind is the biggest challenge. Have some affirmations that you can say to yourself to get you through, like "every sensation is brining me closer to my baby." Or "I can do this, I was built for this." Whatever keeps you focused. An work on your BREATHING!!
'My breathing is what got me through the entire labour and mostly the early phase. Drink as much water as possible and keep your energy up with snacks!'. (sic)
Mama East, how are you feeling?
Fleur said: 'I'm feeling OK thank you. More and more myself everyday. In the beginning I was forgetting to look after myself and was so focused on Nova. But that had an affect on my milk supply and my general well being.
'So it's been a balance. I'm taking good care of myself now and Nova is a very happy baby. So I feel so much better. They say if Mum is happy, baby is happy and I understand that now'. (sic)
Does Nova have any Ghanaian name or African names?
Fleur said: 'Yes! She was born on a Friday so her Ashanti name is Afia! My husband and my Auntie Tina were also born on a Friday and they were both my birthing partners, so it felt like it was meant to be'. (sic)
