Coronation Street's Sam Aston shares sweet baby news in hilarious post
A baby reveal for the win
Coronation Street favourite Sam Aston is adding to his brood off-screen. The beloved actor, who has played Chesney Brown for most of the last two decades, is expecting another child with his wife Briony Gardner.
The news arrived with organised chaotic family comedy, which had fans in hysterics. If you thought three kids was already a full house, wait until you see how Aston broke the news...
Aston confirmed the pregnancy with an amusing video on Instagram, where he could be seen dragging his three children across the floor. As they departed the shot, the youngest child was spotted clutching ultrasound pictures – the tell-tale sign that baby Aston number four is on the way. On his socials, he captioned the post: 'Here we go again… baby Aston #4'.
The post quickly filled with warm messages from followers and co-stars alike. Sally Ann Matthews, who starred alongside Aston in Coronation Street until her departure last year, commented: 'I was literally thinking about you yesterday and whether you'd have any more! Congratulations to you all!'.
One fan wrote: 'Hahaha loooove the announcement 😍 welcome to the 4 kids club!!! It's bloody bonkers but you wouldn't change it for the world xxx'. A third chimed: 'Best announcement ever! 😂you are treasured already little one ❤️💫✨'. (sic)

Aston debuted as Chesney in 2003 and has been a cornerstone of the soap since then. Speaking in January 2025 amid several cast exits, he told Digital Spy: "I'd love to do 50 years on Corrie. I'm nearly halfway there. It's on the cards".
He added: "I'm currently in another 12-month contract that's been a rolling thing for the last few years. I never rest on my laurels. I wouldn't like to think I'm irreplaceable or anything like that. But as long as they want me and I'm enjoying it, I'll stay."
Sam isn't just dominating Coronation Street - he's also a Dancing On Ice champion. In 2025, the actor competed in series 17 of the ITV skating show alongside professional skater Molly Lanaghan. After a stunning run that included a memorable 'Bolero' performance in the final, Sam and Molly were crowned winners of Dancing On Ice 2025 on 9th March.
The victory marked a major career milestone away from the soap. Fresh from the grand final, Sam appeared on Lorraine celebrating his rink royalty status. Since his ice triumph, he's returned to Coronation Street, proving he's just as comfortable on skates as he is on the cobbles.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
