Richard Madden’s Bodyguard ‘confirmed’ for a second season
Last updated 28th Jan 2019
Great news for Bodyguard fans as the hit BBC drama, that admittedly had us all watching through the crevices of our fingers(!!), will be returning for a second season. Hurrah!
It was Lorraine Kelly who spilled the beans on whether there were plans for a new series and she seemingly confirmed Richard Madden would be back on our screens as the Protection Sergeant David Budd.
“It is going to come back,” Lorraine adamantly said. We love her confidence.
Her guests had pleaded the TV show host to disclose details after she had a catch up with the star, who had just won the National Television Award for best New Drama the previous night.
“I think we can safely say it’s coming back,” she added.
Richard has also excitedly spoken out about a potential new series.
At the end of last year, the Scottish actor explained added fuel to the fire by revealing he was going to discuss a possibility of season two with the show's creator Jed Mercurio, "I’m going to meet Jed in a couple of weeks, to have a chat and see what’s next in his brilliant brain"
He went on to say, "So, I’m like, what can happen next? You know, with David. Because he had a hell of a couple of months there. Where do you go with this guy?"
Richard then revealed his thoughts on his popular character saying, "I also thought, maybe it’s going to be like American Horror Story where, in the second series, it’s a whole different incarnation of it, and I’m a royal and Keeley is on my protection team. And you get all the rest of the actors back, and we all do different things. But who knows what’s in Jed’s mind. I’m very keen to hear."
We can't WAIT.
