Four years to the day (22nd April) that the first season of Heartstopper arrived on Netflix, the release date for the upcoming, final instalment of the franchise, a feature length film, has been announced. Heartstopper Forever, wrapped production last year, and will now arrive in July 2026.
When will Heartstopper Forever be released?
In April 2026 it was announced the film will be released on 17th July 2026. Netflix shared the news on social media, along with a video, writing: 'Hi 🍂 btw the Heartstopper Forever movie drops 17 July, only on Netflix.'

On 22nd April 2026, the first look from Heartstopper Forever was also released, it shows the cast members sitting around two tables smiling at each other.
What is the film called?
On 28th July 2025, the film was confirmed to be called Heartstopper Forever. The official Heartstopper account announced the exciting news with a short video.
How was the film announced?
Netflix announced the exciting news on social media, back in June 2025, sharing a photo of the Heartstopper author Alice Oseman, along with lead actors Kit Connor and Joe Locke. They captioned the photo: '‼️HUGE NEWS‼️ The Heartstopper movie is officially in production 🍂'.
Fans of the show were quick to leave excited comments, with one writing: 'The beginning of the end, but also the start of forever... ❤️', with another saying: '🍂🍂Oh my God, I can’t believe it’s official, this is a great day to be a heartstopper fan 🍂🍂'. (sic)
The show, which celebrated the fourth anniversary of its release on 22nd April 2026, will come to a conclusion through a feature-length film starring lead actors Kit and Joe.
Speaking about the announcement of the film finale, creator Alice said: "I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story. I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion."
After the initial announcement, Netflix then shared another video featuring highlights from past series, following Nick and Charlie's relationship journey.
According to Netflix, the synopsis for the film reads: 'Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet.
'Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?'
Who will be executive producers?
As well as playing the lead roles, Kit Connor and Joe Locke will serve as executive producers.
