After three incredible series of coming-of-age romantic drama The Summer I Turned Pretty, Prime Video revealed in September 2025 that the story will conclude with a feature length film. The exciting news was announced following emotional series three finale, during a premiere celebration in Paris on Wednesday 17th September last year.

Courtenay Valenti, Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical at Amazon MGM Studios, said: “The Summer I Turned Pretty has struck a chord with audiences everywhere, creating moments of joy, nostalgia, and connection that have made it a global sensation.”

Vernon Sanders, Global Head of Television, at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, added: “We’re proud of the series’ extraordinary success and couldn’t be more excited to partner again with Jenny Han to bring fans an unforgettable next chapter.”

As production begins, here’s everything we know so far.

What will the film be about?

Bosses are so far keeping tight-lipped about the movie's plot, but we do know it will follow on from the third series, and the story will continue the final chapter of Belly’s journey.

Writer Jenny Han said: “There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans."

Is there a trailer?

At this stage there's no trailer.

When is it out?

There’s still no confirmed release date, and it could be some time before one is announced. However, there is now an update on production!

On Wednesday 13th May 2026, Prime Video shared a photo of characters Belly and Conrad, writing: 'Did you miss them? The Summer I Turned Pretty movie is now in production'.

Where is it filmed?

Bosses a keen to keep the filming location of the movie under wraps, writing on social media: 'We love the excitement, but sharing locations and visiting set disrupts filming and creates real safety concerns for our cast and crew. We’re working hard to create a protected bubble to make the best movie possible. Please help us protect the magic of Cousins until it’s ready to be shared. 💛'.

What is The Summer I Turned Pretty?

Adapted from Jenny Han’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, The Summer I Turned Pretty has evolved into a phenomenon since it was released back in 2022.

Amazon say of the series: 'The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multigenerational drama centred around a love triangle involving one girl and two brothers. It explores the complex bonds between mothers and their children, the strength of lasting female friendships, and the transformative journey of growing up. At its heart, it's a coming-of-age tale about first love, first heartbreak, and the unforgettable magic of one perfect summer.'

Having landed in July 2025, series three racked up a huge 25 million viewers globally through its first seven days, making it the fifth most watched returning season on Prime Video.
