ITV say 'no current plans' for more series of The X Factor 👀
It last aired in 2018!
ITV have spoken out about the future of The X Factor, confirming that there are "no current plans" to resurrect the singing competition. After rumours that Simon Cowell had "axed" the programme, channel bosses have confirmed that they're not looking to go ahead with any future series of the show at the moment.
Having aired for 17 years since 2004, The X Factor became a staple of British television, with Simon Cowell at the helm and various music moguls taking to the judging panel over the years.
However, after going on hiatus in 2018 with various spin-off shows tried and tested on the channel, an ITV spokesperson has now said: "There are no current plans for the next series of The X Factor at this stage."

It was reported in February 2020 that Simon said he would be "resting" the show, and rumours have now circulated that this will continue for the next five years at least.
This comes after ITV commissioned a brand new talent show with Simon leading the way - a six-part music gameshow called Walk The Line which will see contestants compete for the chance to win a life-changing sum of money... But of course, talent alone isn't enough to win the money.
According to ITV, contestants will need 'nerves of steel' to decide whether to cash out or 'walk the line', with the show expected to air later in 2021.
