Winner revealed for Squid Game: The Challenge series 2 after tense final

Just hours before the final episode of Squid Game: The Challenge aired on Netflix in 2023, producers thrilled fans by announcing that the hit reality series had been renewed for a second season.

Now all three series of the original show have landed and with talk of a potential American spin-off, Squid Game: The Challenge series two is also now complete, with the big finale taking place on 19th November.

When did series 2 come out?

The second series took place over a three-week event, with the final episode dropping on 19th November. Check out the episode schedule below:

4th November: Episodes 1-4 ✅

11th November: Episodes 5-8 ✅

19th November: Episode 9 ✅

Is there a trailer?

Yes! After multiple teaser trailers, the full trailer was released on Thursday 16th October, giving fans the first look at this year's 456 players and the games they will take part in.

The caption read: 'Inspired by the iconic original series – with shocking new twists and never-before-seen games – season two raises the stakes higher than ever. As players face elimination at every turn, only one can emerge victorious. New players. New games. New rules'.

Where was it filmed?

Filming took place in January 2025 at The Wharf Studios and Cardington Studios in Bedford, England.

How many contestants?

Just like the first series, 456 contestants took part in the games, including former Big Brother star Glyn Wise.

Who was in the final?

During episode eight, five players made it to the final episode, including Players 017, 072, 183, 203 and 398.

During the round table, Trinity (Player 398) chose to self-eliminate, meaning Dajah (Player 302), Steven (Player 183), Vanessa (Player 017), and Perla (Player 072) were the final four going into the final game - Red Light, Green Light.

Who won series two?

During Red Light, Green Light, Player 017 was the first out, followed by Player 183. It was then down to Player 072 and Player 302 to reach the finish line, but after Player 302 injured her ankle, she fell to the ground and was eliminated by motion-censored doll Young-hee.

Player 072 then had a free route to the finish line, rushing over the line to win the jackpot!

What was the prize money?

Player 072 won a life-changing reward of $4.56 million USD.

Which games featured on series two?

Series two features six games, as well as the final game, which determined which player won the cash prize.

Game 5: Slides and Ladders

What channel is it on?

Just like the first series, the second instalment airs on streaming platform Netflix.

Will there be a third series?

Yes, Netflix have now confirmed a third series.

Can I apply?

Although applications for series two of Squid Game: The Challenge closed on 20th July 2024, bosses are now looking for contestants for the third series.

The application website states: 'Now it’s your chance to take part in Netflix’s biggest ever social experiment! This supersized unscripted show turns the scripted world of the drama into reality. Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what’s coming next. Here they’ll compete in a series of heart-stopping games in order to become the sole survivor* and walk away with a life-changing $4.56 million dollar cash prize.

What happened in series one?

Series one of Squid Game: The Challenge first hit the streaming platform on 22nd November 2024, with the final episode airing on Thursday 7th December 2024.

The 10-episode series followed the same format as the original drama Squid Game, where 456 players took part in various games such as Red Light, Green Light, Dalgona, and Glass Bridge, without the brutal violence of course.

Without giving away any spoilers, three players made it to the final episode, where just one player won a huge prize of $4.56 million.
