Met police officer arrested on suspicion of murder

Police have confirmed that a serving Metropolitan police officer has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection to the case of missing woman Sarah Everard.
The man, who is in his 40s, was originally arrested on suspicion of kidnap on Tuesday evening.
As of Wednesday, he was further arrested on suspicion of murder and a separate allegation of indecent exposure.
It comes as police continue their search for Sarah, who went missing last Wednesday, at locations in both Kent and London.
A property in Kent and an area of woodland near Ashford are being searched by police.
The Metropolitan police force said the officer in question is a serving member of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, where his main duties involve the uniformed patrolling of diplomatic premises.
The force have said that their inquiries suggested the officer in question was not on duty at the time Sarah went missing.
33-year-old Sarah is a marketing executive based in London, who has been missing since last Wednesday evening after leaving a friend's house to walk home.
The Met police has made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the arrest of a police officer.
