Whether you're already a whizz in the kitchen or you're a complete culinary novice, here are 10 simple yet amazing tips to help you when you're getting your bake on...

10 baking hacks to try at home

1. Swap avocado for butter in cakes

This makes them that little bit healthier - meaning you can eat more!

2. Use a wine bottle as a rolling pin

But make sure you don't drink it all first as that will definitely make baking harder!

3. Ripen your bananas quickly in the oven

Put them in the oven for a few minutes and they'll quickly be ready to eat.

4. Use a toothpick to write on cakes

Squeeze out the frosting into small dots on to the end of the toothpick, then place these on your cake!

5. Soften butter under a glass

It's better than using the microwave as sometimes you melt it too far!

6. Freeze cookie dough in ice cube trays

This will help you make perfectly portioned ready-to-bake snacks.

7. Scoop up egg shells with a wet finger

The shell will stick to your wet finger and make it easier for you to pick out those stray shells.

8. Make frosting easily

Place some marshmallows on top of your cupcakes, put them in the oven and wait for them to melt into the perfect frosting.

9. Wet your hands for no more sticky fingers

When making sticky treats make sure you wet your hands as it will make it much easier to shape the food.

10. Use a hot knife to get perfect slices of cake

Run the knife under hot water, dry and then use to cut your cakes to perfection!
