Netflix users have already binged Harlan Coben's 'brilliant' new drama Missing You
It landed on New Year's Day
Last updated 2nd Jan 2025
Following the monumental success of Harlan Coben's drama Fool Me Once at the beginning of 2024, featuring Michelle Keegan, it didn't take long for Netflix bosses to reveal plans to adapt a further two of Harlan's award-winning novels.
Netflix revealed the news back in January 2024 that Missing You and Run Away would be the next to hit Netflix, and after Missing You landed on New Year's Day, some viewers have already binged all five episodes!
What are people saying about it?
Although it only started on 1st January, already Netflix users have binged the entire series, with many calling it 'brilliant'.
One wrote online: 'Binged it today … brilliant! 🤩❤️', with another adding: 'Brilliant watched it all today . Very gripping'. (sic) Another commented: 'Watched it all today absolutely Brilliant 💯'. (sic)
Without giving away too many spoilers, a number of fans were left a little disappointed by the ending, with some dubbing it 'predictable'.
One added: 'All his series are the same, if you’ve watched one you’ve seen them all. Predictable', with someone else writing: 'Already watched it. Must say this was the most predictable out of them all. Was good but I was disappointed'.
When did it come out?
It was announced in November that Missing You would land on Wednesday 1st January 2025, the perfect treat for New Year's Day!
Netflix bosses wrote on social: 'Nothing burns like an old flame... and your new year’s plans just got a lot hotter 🔥 @harlancoben’s MISSING YOU debuts on 1 January, only on netflix'. (sic)
What is Missing You about?
Harlan's book Missing You was released in March 2014 and is a heart-pounding thriller about the ties we have to our past.
The show's synopsis says: 'Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan’s fiancé Josh – the love of her life – disappeared and she’s never heard from him since. Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.
'Josh’s reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past.'

Speaking to Digital Spy at the National Television Awards, Harlan said: "I think it may be my most gripping, and the ending will not only surprise you. In fact, I recently re-watched it, I was completely fooled by the ending – and I wrote it.
"But I think you'll genuinely be moved. Tell me if you shed a tear at the last episode of Missing You."
