Tonight's (Sunday 16th February) episode of Love Island has been cancelled following the tragic death of former host Caroline Flack on Saturday 15th February.

ITV confirmed the news, with a spokesperson saying, “Many people at ITV knew Caroline well and held her in great affection. All of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news.

“After careful consultation between Caroline’s representatives and the Love Island production team and given how close we still are to the news of Caroline’s tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonight’s Love Island out of respect for Caroline’s family. Love Island will return tomorrow night which will include a tribute to Caroline who will be forever in our hearts.”

The show, which airs on ITV2, will return to our TV screens on Monday 17th February, with the 2020 final due to take place on Sunday 23rd February.

It comes after the heartbreaking news that 40-year-old Caroline had passed away in her London flat yesterday, with a lawyer for Caroline's family confirming that she took her own life.

Caroline's family released the following statement, "We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February. We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time."

Caroline's celebrity friends and colleagues have since been paying tribute on social media, including current Love Island host Laura Whitmore and voice over Iain Stirling.
