The British Soap Awards took place in London over the weekend, with Phillip Schofield hosting the event live for the first time in history. Despite this, actors from the soaps EastEnders, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Doctors and Coronation Street, were all on their best behaviour.
It was a great night for ITV's Coronation Street, not only did they win Best British Soap, Jack P Shepherd, who plays the role of the role of David Platt, picked up his first ever award in the Best Actor category.
And whilst Jack's Coronation Street co-stars looked thrilled for him at the event, it was his nine-year-old daughter Nyla's reaction that left people talking.
The video, which Jack posted to his Instagram account, showed Nyla watching the awards on the TV with some of her friends. As Jack's name is announced, the nine-year-old couldn't contain her excitement, jumping and screaming around the room.
Jack captioned the video with, 'My daughters reaction. I love you Nyla. ❤️' sic
Brilliant! 🤣🤣🤣
It was an emotional night for Jack, despite being on Coronation Street for nearly two decades, this is the first time he's ever won the award in the Best Actor category.
Upon accepting his award, Jack thanked both his real family and his on-screen family, he said, "I’d like to thank my family, the Platts, Helen, Sue, Tina, what’s-his-chops; Ben Price, Kate Oates for giving me this storyline, thank you, she’s been a great producer and we’ll miss her dearly.
“Who else? The research department at Corrie, they’ve been great. And my mum, my real life mum, I’d like to thank her for giving up my life and chaperoning me from job to job and Nyla and Rueben, my kids, who are watching this."
Jack's on-screen character David Platt has had a tough time recently. David was drugged and then raped by Josh Tucker, with the infamous character finally reporting him to the police in scenes which aired last night.
Jack has since been praised by viewers for the way he handled the hard-hitting storyline, with many calling his acting 'fabulous'.
Coronation Street continues on ITV.
