Here's why Sue Cleaver was exempt from I'm A Celeb's eating trial π
She was ruled out of the upcoming Bushtucker!
Last updated 11th Nov 2022
It's the Bushtucker Trial that everyone loves to hate... No matter how they dress it up each year, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! viewers are always enthralled by the eating challenges.
Whether it be vomit fruit smoothie, cow teat milkshakes or another disgusting delicacy, it's the one Bushtucker staple that we can expect to see each year - and this year, La Cucaracha Cafe will be airing TONIGHT (Fri 11th Nov).
After the public voted for the celebrity they wanted to see down the monstrous mouthfuls, the lucky pair were revealed by hosts Ant and Dec to be - unsurprisingly - Matt Hancock and Boy George, but viewers were left confused when Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver was ruled out of the trial on medical grounds.
Plenty took to social media sites to air their confusion, and noted that even Beverley Callard couldn't get out of an eating trial by claiming to be vegan in the 2020 edition of the show!
Although it hasn't been officially confirmed, many have pointed out that Sue lives with Type 2 diabetes, with some viewers spotting her blood sugar monitor over the past few days - and this would explain why she couldn't take part in an eating challenge, as her blood sugars could be unbalanced by consuming certain foods.
The 59-year-old, who was diagnosed with diabetes in 2011, has been praised by viewers of the show for not trying to cover up her arm monitor, normalising what life can be like for some people with diabetes.
