We are only three months into 2021, but already drama on ITV has been pretty spectacular, with shows like The Bay, Unforgotten and Marcella all keeping us occupied during the most-recent lockdown across the UK.

Another popular show which proved very popular with viewers was Finding Alice, featuring the likes of Keeley Hawes, Sharon Rooney, Nigel Havers, Joanna Lumley and Isabella Pappas.

Series one, which followed the story of Alice Dillon (Keeley Hawes) deal with the tragic death of her beloved husband Harry (Jason Merrells), aired across January and February with an average 7 million people tuning in.

Now, following the success of the first series, ITV bosses have confirmed the show will be back for a second series!

Executive Producer Nicola Shindler said, "I am delighted to be able to continue telling Alice’s very original story with Roger and Simon writing and Keeley Hawes back to explore the increasingly complicated life of Alice.”

Actress Keeley Hawes, who is also also an Executive Producer on the hit drama, added, “I’m so pleased to be reuniting with the brilliant team behind Finding Alice for a second series. We’ve been honoured to hear from so many viewers who have related to Alice’s experience of grief, and look forward to sharing the next stage of her journey.”

However, the bad news for viewers is that filming for series two won't commence until February 2022, so there's going to be a bit of await until Finding Alice is back on our screens.

ITV have since revealed series two will pick up one year on from series one, with the show going on to 'explore the consequences of Alice deciding to have her dead husband’s baby and the impact this decision has on her friends and family.'

Sarah Doole, CEO of Red Production Company said of series two, “Finding Alice is a terrific story, brought to life through a fantastic cast and crew. It’s been a brilliant antidote to lockdown as these fantastic viewing figures show, and the team at Red Production Company can’t wait to bring more of Alice’s life to ITV viewers.”
