Two Great British Bake Off contestants will be missing this week

They're both under the weather

It's Tuesday, which means it's almost time for the next episode of The Great British Bake Off! With the series starting two weeks ago on 13th September, and two eliminations already, we would normally be expecting 10 bakers to be taking on Bread Week, but unfortunately that's not the case!

In tonight's episode (27th September) there will be just eight contestants getting the chance to prove their worth in Bread Week, as masters student Rebs Lightbody and electronics engineer Abdul Rehman Sharif will be missing from this week's episode.

As Metro.co.uk reports, at the beginning of tonight's show, Matt Lucas explains the absence of Rebs and Abdul joking: "Both Rebs and Abdul are a bit under the weather this week, but with your permission, we thought we’d send them both straight through to the final."

Before co-host Noel Fielding puts the record straight: "Only joking, they’re going to miss a week and hopefully they’ll be back next week."

Despite Rebs missing Bread Week, it's clear she's very talented at making bread as she shared a video of herself making some delicious looking focaccia. Writing on Instagram: 'The focaccia jiggle makes me think of this song everyyyyy time!!!

'It's bread week, so strap in for some carby content from me and my gbbo besties 🍞🥖

'What's your favourite bread? (looking for inspo for future bakes.. 👇)'. (sic)

Rebs, who only started baking bread two years ago, has also shared a video, along with a recipe, explaining how she often bakes Turkish-style bread as her partner is from Northern Turkey.

So far in this year's series we've waved goodbye to former charity director Will Hawkins, and student and sales assistant Maisam Algirgeet.

We wish Rebs and Abdul a speedy recovery! ❤️
