The wife of TV presenter Simon Thomas has died just three days after she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Simon tweeted the devastating news over the weekend saying he was 'crushed with indescribable pain.'
The tweet continued, 'Just three days after falling ill with Acute Myloid Leukaemia, my dear wife Gemma passed away yesterday evening surrounded by her family and friends.
'If you are a prayer - pray for my boy Ethan. 8yrs, precious and in bits. Thank you.'
Speaking about how his loss has affected him and his young son, he told The Mirror "He Ethan said he wants Playmobil and other gifts for Christmas, but most of all 'I want mummy back', and I can't help him with that."
Gemma's health deteriorated rapidly after she was admitted to hospital in Reading last week, Simon continued,
"For the first couple of days she was responding well, but yesterday morning she went downhill very quickly. She had bleeding on the brain. I was told yesterday morning she would be gone in a few hours."
Since the news broke many celebrities and sportspeople, including England striker Jamie Vardy and England women's captain Steph Houghton, tweeted messages of condolence to Simon and his family.
TV presenter Rachel Riley also tweeted 'Oh Simon. Sending all my love to you and your family. Deepest deepest sympathies.'
