Scarlett Moffatt teases Gogglebox comeback
She rose to fame after starring on the Channel 4 show
There’s been no stopping Scarlett Moffatt since she quit Gogglebox five years ago, with the hilarious Geordie lass going on to win I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and land hosting gigs on the ITV show’s spin-off Extra Camp, as well as Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
Although she’s a big time TV star now, Scarlett has teased that she could return to where it all started and appear on the Channel 4 show once again.
The 30-year-old, who appeared on Gogglebox alongside her parents Mark and Betty, has revealed a comeback isn’t totally out of the question.
Speaking to Entertainment Daily, she said, “Never say never. I still do watch TV and chat non-stop – much to the annoyance of boyfriend Scott Dobinson."
There would be one major change if Scarlett ever got back on her sofa though.
She added, “I would say I'm less critical now after actually being in the TV industry.
“I love watching Gogglebox, it's like a talking TV guide."
Check out what the original Gogglebox cast are up to now:
The Tappers
The Tapper family, made up of dad Jonathan, mum Nikki, daughter Amy and son Josh, appeared on Gogglebox for 11 series between 2013-2018.
After landing an Apprenticeship scheme with the UK Government, Josh left the show, shortly followed by his sister Amy who landed a spot on E4's Celebs Go Dating.
Most recently, Amy and her dad Jonathan have documented their amazing weight-loss, after Jonathan was left fighting for this life after contracting the Coronavirus. Thankfully he made a full recovery!
The Moffatts
The Moffatt family, made up of daughter Scarlett, dad Mark and mum Betty, first made their appearance on Gogglebox in series three in 2014.
There's no denying the fact that Scarlett is the biggest name to come off Gogglebox, with the Geordie girl going on to appear in and later win I'm A Celebrity in 2016.
Following her success on the popular reality show, Scarlett appeared on shows such as Virtually Famous, Iain Stirling's CelebAbility, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and she even co-presented I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp for two series.
In 2019 she reunited with her mum, dad and younger sister Ava for Channel 4 documentary The British Tribe Next Door, where the family lived with locals in a Namibian village.
Most recently the Moffatt family took part in ITV quiz show Britain's Brightest Celebrity Family, which was hosted by The Chase star Anne Hegarty.
Scarlett welcomed a baby boy call Jude into the world with her boyfriend Scott in June 2023.
Sandi and Sandra
Best friends Sandra Martin and Sandi Bogle were loved by viewers of Gogglebox when the appeared between 2013-2016, expressing their larger than life personalities on screen.
Sandi made the decision to quit the show in 2016, before entering the Celebrity Big Brother house alongside the likes of Sarah Harding and Amelia Lily in 2017. Since then she's released her own music album and appeared on Celebrity Fat Fighters.
Meanwhile, despite continuing alongside her daughter when Sandi left Gogglebox, just a year later Sandra quit the show herself. Since then Sandra has appeared on 100 Years Younger In 21 Days and even First Dates!
Steph and Dom Parker
Posh couple Steph and Dom Parker delighted viewers between 2013-2016 when they appeared in seven series of Gogglebox.
The married couple enjoyed a lot of TV work when they left the show, with Dom taking part in Channel 4's The Jump in 2017 and Celebrity Masterchef.
Steph and Dom also appeared together on a celebrity edition of Channel 4's Hunted, and the couple released their own book called Steph and Dom's Guide to Life.
Most recently, Steph and Dom confirmed their £5 million hotel The Salutation had gone bust. Dom said, "We are sorry to confirm that The Salutation Hotel Ltd, which has been managing The Salutation, has indeed become insolvent."
Reverend Kate and Graham Bottley
Reverend Kate and her husband Graham Bottley become famed for their tea drinking when they appeared on the show between 2014–2016 for series three-seven.
After the pair quit the show, Reverend Kate stayed in the spotlight, landing appearances on shows like House Of Games, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Celebrity MasterChef.
The Woerdenwebers
Based in The Wirral, the much-loved Woerdenweber family, made up of German-born Ralf Woerdenweber, his British wife Viv and their daughter Eve, were loved on the show, as well as Eve's silent boyfriend Jay.
After Eve and Jay split, the daughter went on to date her boyfriend Alex, who she got engaged to in 2020. Meanwhile, Ralf works for Bosch and Viv runs her own shop and tattoo parlour.
Last year, Scarlett spoke out about the “very difficult” filming process behind the scenes at Gogglebox and claimed the show was edited to make her look “thick as s--t”.
Chatting to boyfriend Scott on her podcast Scarlett Moffatt Wants to Believe, she said, “I was a professional couch potato, you're making it sound easy. It was actually very difficult. Don't take the mick. Do you know what was difficult?
"For example, you know Downton Abbey, we used to have to watch Downton Abbey, but ten minutes of it... I'd never watched Downton Abbey, like a full episode, and they show us ten minutes of like a man bleeding from the mouth and then I'm like, what's going on? What's happening? Who's this?"
She added, “And they only show that and it looks like I'm thick as s--t, but really it's because I genuinely don't have a clue what's going on. I'm like, seriously who is this because I've never watched it before so actually it was very difficult."
Meanwhile, although no new episodes of Gogglebox are airing right now, with series 17 due later in the year, viewers were left over the moon at the end of 2020 when series nine, 10, 11, 12 and 13 were added to streaming platform Netflix.
Series 17 of Gogglebox, featuring the likes of Jenny and Lee, The Malones, Ellie and Izzi, and Pete and Sophie, is expected to return in the coming weeks.
