Pop icon, Kim Wilde, is set to release her highly anticipated 15th studio album, in January 2025. The 80s singer famed for 'Kids In America' announced the news alongside the release of her new single 'Trail of Destruction'.
'Closer' is Kim’s first studio album since 2018’s 'Here Come The Aliens' and is guaranteed to bring more hits, alongside that unmistakable voice. Intended as a companion piece to her fan-favourite 1988 album 'Close', this new offering is said to be made up of a combination of pop, rock and dance.
When will the new album be out?
Kim's highly anticipated 15th studio album 'Closer' is due to release on 31st January 2025, seven years after she released 'Here Come The Aliens' - and 44 years after her first studio album 'Kim Wilde' was released. It reached Number 3 in the UK chart.
Speaking about the new album, Kim said: "Closer has truly been an absolute joy to make… it feels like the natural companion to Close from 1988, and I believe it serves as a perfect reflection of where I find myself today, musically speaking.”

Talking about her new single, Kim said: "I wanted a connection to 'Stone' from my 'Close' album in 1988, as well as referencing Jack Black’s 60’s-referencing 'Sticking it to the man' speech from School of Rock. ‘Stone’ was a protest about the ‘man’ taking ownership of our planet and not keeping their promises to stop messing it up. 'Trail of Destruction' is a protest for a new generation."

Will Kim be going on tour?
In addition to the album release, Kim will embark on an extensive tour across the UK and Europe, culminating in a full UK tour in March 2025. Fans can expect to hear tracks from 'Closer' live, alongside classic hits that have made her a household name, such as 'You Keep Me Hangin' On' and 'Cambodia' - hits which defined a generation.
