Fire crews remain on the scene after a major blaze in Christchurch.
Officers were called to the scene of Hurn Recyling Centre late yesterday morning (23 July), with a number of staff remaining there overnight.
We're told they were still 'actively firefighting' this morning.
In an update, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to Hurn recycling transfer station on Chapel Lane, Christchurch at 11.26am yesterday (23 July) for a fire involving a large quantity of recycling within a building.
"We had multiple crews on scene throughout the day, with firefighters supported by site staff and BCP Council representatives. The fire is very deep seated within the waste stack, so the stack needs to be broken down and removed from the building.
"A watching brief was maintained overnight, and we are again actively firefighting this morning, with three fire crews and a water carrier on scene. A telehandler from Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS will be used to move the recycling.
"There is still some smoke in the local area, and local residents should keep doors and windows closed if concerned."
