Enquiries continuing after man, 50, found dead in Galashiels

Police say enquiries are ongoing, after the body of a 50-year-old man was discovered in Galashiels.

Officers sealed off a section of the town's Melrose Road after the alarm was raised, shortly after 8am yesterday (Sunday).

And an area around Langhaugh Gardens remained closed for most of the day.

The route is a popular walkway between the town centre and Langlee housing estate, with a drop from the main road into the residential street below.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.15am on Sunday, the body of a 50-year-old man was found on Melrose Road, Galashiels.  

“The death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries are continuing."
