Lancashire... our home county, also known as the Red Rose County. Whether you've lived here all your life, or you've adopted it as your home, you'll almost certainly be able to identify with many of the following.

From the popular chippy tea (fish and chips to others), to dodging the famous brew round at work (or should we say a round of tea and coffee?), you'll know you're in Lancashire when...

Things that will make you think of Lancashire:

You experience four seasons in one day

You leave the house and it's freezing cold, then two hours later it's blazing sunshine and you're seriously overdressed. But an hour later you'll be running for cover as it's pouring with rain. You must be in Lancashire!

Fizzy drinks are called pop

Do you remember the pop man? Fizzy drink man just doesn't sound right!

People refer to their siblings or friends as 'our kid'.

It doesn't matter if they're older or younger than you, they're still 'our kid'.

You have 'chippy tea' on a Friday

It's not fish and chips, it's chippy tea!

Leaving a light on gets compared to the Blackpool illuminations

Think about the electricity bill!

It's a brew round, not a tea round

Brew = tea!
And if you try to dodge one at work your workmates will soon let you know they aren't happy!

You can get a round of drinks for under a tenner

Yes, it IS possible!

You give directions by churches and pubs

There are so many bars and churches it just makes sense to, especially in Preston!

An alleyway is called a ginnel

To many it's a passageway, or an alleyway, but here in Lancashire it's a ginnel.

You see the 'Welcome to Lancashire' road sign and it immediately starts to rain

It just loves to rain in Lancashire!

Everything has a red rose

Red roses are on gates, tiles, doors, windows, everywhere! It is the Red Rose county after all.

Lancashire Hot Pot

Lancashire Hot Pot is a staple at most parties and get-togethers. There are a number of variations, with pastry instead of potatoes, but it's still a hot pot, and usually accompanied by a some good old red cabbage.
