Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are taking a break on This Morning
They won't be on the show for the summer!
Last updated 8th Jul 2020
Speculation has been rife in recent weeks that popular presenting duo Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will be replaced on daytime show This Morning, but after Phillip shut down the claims he'd been 'poached' by the BBC, fans were reassured they weren't going anywhere.
However, on yesterday's (Tuesday 7th July) episode, during a game of Spin To Win, Phillip confirmed himself and Holly would be taking a break from the show, for the annual school holidays.
When the 58-year-old rigged a game of the popular competition so caller Mary landed £1000 instead of the original £500, Phillip made his way back over to the wheel and said, "I know I'm not supposed to, but..."
When Phillip moved the wheel to £1000, Holly told Mary, "We've just boosted you to £1,000!"
Before Phillip then said,"We're off for the summer on Friday so they can't sack me!"
It's not yet been revealed who will replace Holly and Phillip during the summer holidays, which is usually a break of around six weeks for the duo.
Check out all of their potential replacements below:
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford would surely be the front-runners to replace Holly and Phillip! The married couple already present This Morning on a Friday and also when Phillip and Holly are on their holidays.
Marvin and Rochelle Humes
Rochelle is a current member of the This Morning team, and now that she's teamed up to present shows with her husband Marvin, we think the pair would make great replacements.
Ben Shephard
Ben Shepherd is a regular face on the ITV circuit - not only is he a regular presenter for Good Morning Britain, he also hosts daytime challenge show Tipping Point. He's an official stand-in on This Morning, so he could be a front-runner to present the show.
Davina McCall
Davina is loved by TV fans across the UK, and she's been a regular guest on the show in recent months. In June, she covered the show for Holly, so she certainly knows her way around the studio!
Rylan Clark-Neal
Rylan Clark-Neal has been a regular face on This Morning in the past - he had a long stint on the show as a showbiz reporter, and occasionally stands in as a presenter when the regular hosts are away.
Emma Willis
Rylan often works well with Emma Willis, who is his former Celebrity Big Brother partner. They presented This Morning together back in 2018 and went down an absolute treat with viewers.
Alison Hammond
Alison Hammond is an absolute HOOT and is well-loved by This Morning viewers for her occasional segments - who can forget that moment she surprised an elderly lady in her home with Ainsley Harriott?! More of that please.
Christine Lampard
Christine Lampard (née Bleakley) has been a stand-in for Holly Willoughby in the past, and she often presents Lorraine when Lorraine Kelly is off on holiday, meaning she's very well liked at ITV!
Gok Wan
Fashion guru and chef Gok Wan was a huge hit with viewers when he hosted the show alongside Rylan Clark-Neal back in 2018, and he's now a regular guest presenter on the show!
Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan
Richard and Judy were the OG presenters on This Morning, hosting from the very start in 1988 to 2001. The husband and wife duo went on to have their own show, entitled Richard & Judy, so perhaps they'll return if the main jobs are going!
Vanessa Feltz
Vanessa Feltz has been a TV personality since 1992 - so she's VERY experienced. Having previously presented the show and often giving advice to callers, she wouldn't be a stranger to the show.
Fern Britton
Fern Britton was the face of This Morning for a whopping 10 years, presenting the show alongside current host Phillip Schofield and formerly John Leslie between 1999 and 2009, when she left on her 52nd birthday. She'd be the perfect replacement!
Bradley Walsh
Bradley Walsh is loved by TV fans due to his hilarious presenting on ITV show The Chase, so we think he'd be a great addition on This Morning, especially due to the topics the show covers!
After reports were rife that Phillip has been 'poached' by the BBC for when his ITV contract runs out in 2021, the dad-of-two was quick to end the speculation about his future whilst on social media earlier this week.
When a fan tweeted the 58-year-old asking, '@Schofe please please don’t say that you and Holly are leaving this morning?', Phillip responded saying, 'Course not', along with a laughing face emoji.
This Morning continues every weekday at 10am on ITV.
