It's been a massive 20 years since Peter Gabriel has released new music, and now his drummer Manu Katché has confirmed we should be expecting the comeback album this year!

Manu revealed the news in an interview with L’Illustré, where he told them the band are finishing the album and will take it on tour next year: "A world tour is planned for 2023 with Peter Gabriel, starting in May in Europe," he explained: "We're finishing our new album, then we'll go for a walk on the planet. It's super exciting!"

This news follows a previous NME interview with the 'Sledgehammer' singer last month, where he said: "I’ve got a lot of songs I’m trying to get finished... I’m hoping to have something out by the end of the year."

During the interview Peter also talked about making touring greener, going on to admit: "Touring in itself isn’t energy efficient. I know that bands like Massive Attack have tried very hard to deal with that. There are no perfect solutions.

"They’re talking about upping the quality of lighting and PA in venues, which is how it used to be in the very old days. Not that they were good, but it meant that bands didn’t take tonnes of gear. That might help. There’s a venue in Vegas and they’re trying to get one in London too, which was a massive visual and audio sphere. That may take off and would get cheaper to reproduce, and people could arrive and cut down on what they bring."

Last month, Peter received the Ivor Novello Award's highest honour, the Academy Fellowship, and he posted a photo with his award alongside Peter Kay, who presented the award saying: 'Peter received the Ivor Novello Award's highest honour yesterday: the Academy Fellowship.

'Thanks to @ivorsacademy and @applemusic for a lovely afternoon and a special thank you to Peter Kay who presented the award with a brilliant, hilarious speech. #TheIvors'
