We all know Prince was an unbelievable performer with a huge persona, and it seems he was also quite the host. Actress Penélope Cruz was friends with Prince, and her husband actor Javier Bardem has now revealed a story about the pair accidentally making Prince late to his own gig.

Javier appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and recalled the story, explaining that the couple had been invited to have dinner before the show, in Prince's home in London with fellow actor Jordi Mollà.

After a wonderful dinner, time was getting on and the guests were wondering why they hadn't been collected to go to the show yet: "We were having dinner and we took the dessert and we were having a drink, two drinks, and we were like, ‘Nobody’s coming here to pick us up,’"

Eventually, Javier decided to investigate: "So I step out of the room and I say, ‘Hey, we are here.’ ‘Are you finished?’ ‘Yes.’” Then Prince came and said, ‘Are you done?’ ‘Yes.’"

They were quickly taken to their seats and the show began very quickly afterwards, and it was at this moment Javier and Penélope realised they had kept everyone waiting: "We were like, ‘Oh my god, they’ve been waiting an hour for us to finish the dinner’."

Javier also commented: "So that’s my Hollywood star story – I made people wait for an hour. I’m so sorry… I didn’t know. I swear to god, I didn’t know.”

The Spanish actor is currently starring in an Amazon Prime TV show called Being the Ricardos alongside Nicole Kidman. The show follows the story of the American comedy show I Love Lucy, and the lives of the couple who run the show.
