A David Bowie pop-up store has opened on Heddon Street in London, the location of ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ album cover shoot in 1972.
The experimental shop at 14 Heddon Street opened on 25th October 2021, exactly 75 days before the David Bowie Estate launches Bowie 75 - a year-long celebration marking David Bowie’s 75th birthday on 8th January 2022.

David Bowie Pop Up Shop

It offers the chance to buy David Bowie memorabilia and provides an amazing interactive experience.
David Bowie Photo Wall
Some of David Bowie's most iconic photos from throughout his career are on display.
360 Experience
Fans can immerse themselves in Bowie's music when they step into the 360 experience and listen to his famous tracks as well as unheard audio in the surround sound booth.
Ground Control to Major Tom
The Ground Control to Major Tom interactive exhibit allows fans to write messages to David Bowie, which will be displayed on the exhibit's website.

Get your picture taken at the replica DJ booth from Bowie's 1979 BBC DJ set.
CDs and DVDs
Fans can buy David Bowie's albums and singles on CD and Vinyl, as well as DVDs from his performances like the worldwide concert A Reality Tour which ran from 2003-2004.
David Bowie Merchandise
The pop up shop has loads of merchandise to buy, including T-shirts, hoodies, bags, cups, and books about the music legend.
David Bowie Magnet Wall
The magnet wall has words and phrases from Bowie's biggest hits so people can create their own messages and lyrics. This was a technique David used in creating his songs.
Alongside the London shop, there is a pop-up store in New York at 150 Wooster Street, steps away from David Bowie’s longtime downtown New York City neighbourhood. It’s also close to where he recorded his final album ‘Blackstar.’
The two pop-ups offer visitors a unique and immersive career-spanning deep dive into the sound and vision of David Bowie.
Features include:
- Immersive audio and HD video screening rooms in partnership with 360 Reality Audio, an immersive music experience using Sony’s spatial sound technologies. With music in 360 Reality Audio, fans can hear and see Bowie content available for the first time in immersive audio, exclusively in the Bowie 75 locations.
- Hours of video content including previously unseen behind-the-scenes material, rare footage from the Heathen and Reality eras, and more.
- Opportunities to purchase limited edition releases of exclusive Bowie apparel and collectibles, as well as limited run LPs and CDs from both the Warner/Parlophone Records and Sony catalogues.
- Exclusive fine art photography including gallery installations documenting Bowie’s many iconic eras, personae, and Ch-changes.
- Intimate special guest events to be announced.
- Fans can place themselves in iconic costumes and set pieces to create fun and shareable social media moments.
Laura Thursfield, Customer Partnership Manager at The Crown Estate, said: “We want our spaces to be engaging and exciting, bringing new concepts and brands which complement the destination and give people new reasons to come to London’s West End.
“This pop up is not only an opportunity to build on Heddon Street’s history, as the location of the album cover shoot for 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars', but a really interactive, creative approach to retail.”
The London shop on Heddon Street is open Monday to Saturday 11am to 8pm, and Sunday 12pm to 6pm, and is due to close in the new year.
Last month it was announced that a ‘lost’ David Bowie album called ‘Toy’ is finally getting an official release.
Recorded in 2001, ‘Toy’ features revamped versions of some of Bowie’s earliest songs alongside new material. The album was originally shelved following a dispute between Bowie and his then record label Virgin.
‘Toy’ will be released as part of a boxset called ‘Brilliant Adventure’ in November, before it gets a standalone release on Friday 7th January 2022, a day before Bowie’s 75th birthday.
David Bowie died on 10th January 2016 aged 69.
