We're just a few days away from International Women's Day, which takes place on Saturday 8th March. This year, Barbie has honoured two very well-known faces on TV, in the shape of Ted Lasso actresses Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple, as Barbie Role Models.

According to research, 55% of Gen Z and Millennials say that friendship is more important than a romantic relationship, so Barbie is 'honouring powerful friendship duos', and Hannah and Juno are just that. The pair, who appeared in the award-winning TV show, weren't just cast mates, they are also best friends, continuing their friendship after the show finished in 2023.

Speaking about the honour, Hannah said: "Being named a Barbie Role Model is an incredible, unexpected honour. My ever present inner eight-year-old self really can’t quite believe it!

"But then to share this special moment with one of the most loving, supportive, endlessly championing women I have ever met is totally perfect. Our friendship has been unswerving, real and totally right since the second we laid eyes on each other and continues to be the most wonderful gift on set, in this industry and most importantly, in real life.

"I hope our dolls will be a symbol that encourages and celebrates all kinds of female friendship through the glamorous shared moments yes, but most importantly through all the normal days when you need love, strength and support the most."

Juno, who played Keeley Jones in Ted Lasso, added: "It’s honestly impossible for me to put into words just how much this means. Being named a Barbie Role Model is… it’s so incredibly special.

"Through my career, I’ve been lucky enough to help tell the stories of so many amazing women, and now to have my own story – and my friendship with Hannah – acknowledged like this… It’s truly and honour and an iconic moment that I will forever hold preciously in my heart. I know I’m going to proud of our dolls forever."

Both dolls' outfits are stunning, with Hannah's doll's outfit inspired by her outfit at last year's SAG Awards, where she wore a shimmery red Tony Ward couture gown.

Meanwhile, Juno's outfit is inspired by her 2024 Emmy’s Awards outfit including a vintage Roberto Cavalli orange dress and a tiger-shaped clutch.

Barbie's global duos

Around the world, Barbie is also honouring other duos, including US athletes Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey (both Olympic gold medalists), Australian tennis players Evonne Goolagong Cawley and Ash Barty AO (former tennis world number ones) and Brazlia's Paola Antonini and Kelen Ferreira (Paola portrayed a character inspired by Kelen’s life-changing accident in a series).
