The first ever series of The Celebrity Traitors was one of the most talked about shows on British TV — and now it's been revealed around 12 million people tuned in to see the grande finale, making it the most watched episode on UK TV this year!

Following the penultimate episode last week (Thursday 30th October), enthusiasts had been counting down the days until the final, which aired in a 70-minute spectacular with Claudia Winkleman on Thursday 6th November.

Despite spoilers filling the internet, following a leak of the episode, excited fans tuned in to watch Alan Carr win the cash prize for his charity, beating fellow Traitor, Cat Burns and Faithfuls, David Olusoga, Nick Mohammed and Joe Marler, in the final.

When was the final?

The final took place during a 70-minute episode on Thursday 6th November.

The news was announced on social media last month, with the caption: 'By order of #TheTraitors, do not miss #TheCelebrityTraitors Finale from 6th Nov at 9pm 👀 #ClaudiaWinkleman #Traitor #Faithful.'

How many people watched the final?

The BBC have revealed 11.1 million people tuned in to watch the final on the night it aired, rising to more than 12 million by the following morning. That makes it the most watched episode in Traitors history, with this year's civilian The Traitors pulling in 7.4 million viewers.

How to watch the final

The final episode of Celebrity Traitors aired at 9pm on BBC One and is now available to catch up on BBC iPlayer.

The show was followed by an extra special extended episode of The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked on BBC Two.

Was it shown in cinemas?

Yes! A number of small cinemas across the UK aired the live final, including Woolwich Works, The Light in New Brighton, The Light Cinema in Wisbech, and The Mockingbird Cinema in Birmingham.

Following a number of murders and banishments over the last few weeks, just five celebs remained on the show for the final, including two Traitors and three Faithfuls.
