How to apply for The 1% Club?
Applications are now closed
Last updated 7th Oct 2024
Since it first hit our screens back in April 2022, The 1% Club has become one of TV's most popular quiz shows around, as viewers play along at home in the ultimate IQ test.
Hosted by comedian Lee Mack, the show is now onto its third series and is growing popular by the day, so much so that ITV/STV bosses have now renewed the show for two further series! After series three finished, bosses opened up applications for series four, but they've now closed.
Will there be more series of The 1% Club?
Yes! With series three airing earlier this year, bosses have confirmed the show has been renewed for a fourth and fifth series, as well as a number of new Christmas specials.
Can I apply for The 1% Club?
Applications for series four opened on Thursday 23rd May, with the website stating: 'Lee Mack is hosting a brand new series of The 1% Club. Would you like to be a contestant and find out if you are a 90% player or can go all the way to the 1% question and win up to £100,000. We are looking for people of all abilities to be part of our 100 players.'
The application form goes on to state: 'This show is all about how people’s brains work rather than what you learnt at school. Because of this, people of any age or background should have an equal chance of making it into The 1% Club.
'We encourage people from all ethnic backgrounds, sexuality and those who are D/deaf and/ or disabled to apply as we want to show a true representation of the UK. If you need special assistance in order to complete this application, please contact casting@magnumtv.co.uk'
Applications closed on Friday 4th October 2024.
When is The 1% Club on TV?
ITV/STV bosses have confirmed 18 brand new episodes of The 1% Club will air in 2025, with series four launching in the first quarter of the year.
No exact start date has been confirmed just yet.
The third series kicked off at 8.30pm on Saturday 17th February 2024, with episodes scheduled running until Saturday 25th May 2024.
Host Lee Mack said of the new series: “Once again I am delighted to cause household arguments, as kids mock their parents for being not as bright as them. But us grown-ups can stay out as late as we want, so we get the last laugh.”
What channel is it on?
The popular show airs on ITV1 and ITVX, with viewers in Scotland able to watch the show on STV1 and STV Player.
Dean Nabarro at Magnum Media said: "For all those people who still haven’t managed to get the 1% question right, the great news is there will be another 16 shows to prove you’ve got what it takes to be in The 1% Club.”
What time is it on?
During series three, The 1% Club aired straight after Britain's Got Talent at 8.55pm.
What is The 1% Club?
The 1% Club is a quiz show hosted by Lee Mack, which features 100 contestants per episode answering questions based on an IQ test.
At the beginning of each episode, all 100 contestants are given a stake of £1000, with host Lee asking questions which increase in difficulty throughout. Before each episode, the questions are asked to members of the public and then given a percentage of difficulty, depending on the success rate.
For the contestant who makes it to the final question, also known as the 1% question, a prize of £100,000 is up for grabs.
How many episodes does it have?
Series one featured eight episodes.
Series two featured eight episodes.
Series three featured 12 episodes.
What is the prize?
The top achievable prize is £100,000.
When was The 1% Club on TV?
Series one: 9th April - 28th May 2022
Series two: 15th April - 10th June 2023
Series three: 17th February - 25th May 2024
Has anybody won The 1% Club?
Although a lot of contestants have taken away money from the show, the biggest winner to date of The 1% Club was series two contestant Daniel O’Halloran, who took home a huge £99,000.
During the nail-biting episode, Daniel, who is from the Wirral, was the last person standing in the game, which led to him choosing to gamble his £10,000 for a chance to win the jackpot of £99,000.
Daniel took the gamble, and despite thinking he'd answered the final question incorrectly, host Lee Mack confirmed he was in fact correct, resulting in him winning the huge amount of money!
