"I just thought there’s something… special about him… You never forget those moments and, like I said, genuinely if we weren’t making people’s careers successful, I would never be making these shows today."

Unfortunately, Harry did not progress as a solo artist past the Boot Camp stage, but he was invited to join a group with Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn after they found themselves in the same situation.

They sang 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia at their Judges' Houses audition, and went through to the live shows. Although One Direction didn't win The X Factor, coming third in the competition, they've become one of the most successful acts to come out of the show.

Will Harry Styles ever reunite with One Direction?

Despite the boys all leading successful solo careers, in 2019 Harry told Rolling Stone magazine that he'd be up for a One Direction reunion.

He told the publication: "I don't think I'd ever say I'd never do it again, because I don't feel that way. If there's a time when we all really want to do it, that's the only time for us to do it, because I don't think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we're all like, 'Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again.'"

He also spoke about his friendships with the other 1D-ers, saying: "I think even in the disagreements, there's always a mutual respect for each other – we did this really cool thing together, and we'll always have that."

Harry added that the band was "too important" to him to ever think of it as being "done", but stressed that it needed to happen for "the right reasons".

He also discussed how people from boybands move on from it, saying: "I know it's the thing that always happens. When somebody gets out of a band, they go, 'That wasn't me. I was held back.'

"But it was me. And I don't feel like I was held back at all. It was so much fun. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't have done it. It's not like I was tied to a radiator."
