Actor Idris Elba took his girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre by surprise when he proposed to her over the weekend. The Luther actor got down on one knee and proposed to Sabrina at the screening of his new film Yardie, in front of the entire cinema.

Following the lovely moment, the cinema tweeted a photo of the very happy actor saying, 'Another @riocinema first! Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie'.
Since the exciting news Sabrina has also taken to Instagram to post a photo of the happy couple at a dinner table, holding hands. She captioned the photo, 'Baby! I can’t tell you enough how happy you make me and how lucky I feel to have found a love like this, you make my heart feel so full. I love you. Forever will always feel to short. #imsuchacheeseball @idriselba'.

Idris and Sabrina have reportedly been dating for just over a year, but it was only in September last year that they made their first red carpet appearance together.

This exciting news comes as a bit of shock following an interview last year with the actor when he said, "Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so."
He told Essence magazine, "Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling."
We're super excited that he has changed his mind though, as the couple look so loved-up just days before the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day.
As well as being a highly-acclaimed actor, starring in TV series such as Luther and The Wire, Idris has directed this new film Yardie, which is a British crime film. Away from acting and directing, Idris is also a DJ and has just announced he will be playing in Ibiza this summer. Taking to Instagram he posted a short video saying he was very excited to be playing in Ibiza, however he couldn't say where on Ibiza it would be just yet.
