Top Boy season 3 is now out on Netflix
It's arrived!
After what feels like a lifetime of waiting, Netflix have released season three of Top Boy. Following the release of the trailer, first look photos, and the tracklist for the soundtrack, fans are now rejoicing that season three is here in full.

The Top Boy soundtrack
Fans are able to listen to the Top Boy soundtrack now, with Netflix releasing a selection of Brian Eno’s recordings from his soundtrack to the show on 1st September.
‘Top Boy (Score From the Original Series)’ was released digitally on 1st September, with the vinyl and CD copies being available from 29th September. Aside from two tracks included on Brian’s album, 'Film Music 1976 - 2020', this release marks the first time any of this material - from the entire total of five seasons - has been made available publicly.
On 16th August 2023, ‘Cutting Room 1’ was released - a completely unheard track, being one of two tracks on the album that Brian selected for inclusion on the soundtrack album. The track earned its title due to never actually being used in any episodes of the series.

When will Top Boy season three be released?
Rumours were rife in 2022 that production had been delayed due to some 'creative differences' - however, no need to panic, as it has now been released - on Thursday 7th September.
Netflix confirmed the news on social media, sharing a trailer for the hugely-antipcated final series, with the words: 'No.Loose.Ends... Top Boy, The Final Chapter. September 7th'. (sic)
The release month was revealed along with the teaser trailer on 28th April 2023. Prior to that, news on the release date was pretty minimal, with production even halting at in October 2022.
Why was filming paused?
Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the time, a Netflix spokesperson explained why filming was delayed for the show, thankfully adding that the cameras were back up and running, saying: “Producers Cowboy Films, Easter Partisan, and Netflix temporarily paused production on the final season of Top Boy to allow for further creative discussion."

Just weeks after the second instalment of Top Boy landed on Netflix back in March 2022, the streaming platform confirmed the popular show had been renewed for a third and final series. Sharing the teaser on 28th April 2023, bosses wrote: 'Top Boy. The Final Season. Coming this September.'
Understandably, many fans could barely contain their excitement, with one taking to the comments to write: 'YESSSSS' (sic), another commenting: 'Finally !!!!!' (sic), and one more adding: 'I can't wait 😂🔥'.
Six new episodes are now on Netflix, with regular cast members such as Ashley Walters, Kane Robinson, Simbi Ajikawo and Jasmine Jobson making their return, alongside new faces.

Will there be new characters?
Announcing that production of Top Boy season three, the final chapter of the Netflix series, had begun in London in 2022, the platform also revealed that Barry Keoghan (The Batman) and Brian Gleeson (Bad Sisters, Peaky Blinders, Frank of Ireland) will also feature in the show.
Barry and Brian will play new characters Jonny and Tadgh, and will feature alongside the regular cast Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson, Simbi Ajikawo, Jasmine Jobson, Saffron Hocking and Araloyin Oshunremi.
Is Drake a producer?
Top Boy is executive produced by the original creative team. For season three, the show continues to be executively produced by multi-faceted entertainer and producer Drake, and his business partner Adel “Future” Nur, LeBron James, Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for The SpringHill. Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson also serve as Executive Producers.
It's safe to say that series two, which was executively co-produced by Drake, was a hit with fans, with viewers watching on the edge of their seats as Jamie gets out of prison and quickly disrupts Dushane’s unrivalled rule of Summerhouse.
Was the show always on Netflix?
Although it's a huge Netflix smash now, Top Boy was originally released on Channel 4 back in 2011, but it was cancelled following two series.
After picking up a whole host of fans, including music superstar Drake, the show was revived by Netflix, with Drake taking on the role of co-producer.
Season three of Top Boy landed on Netflix on Thursday 7th September 2023.
