Ant and Dec are desperate for a civilian version of I'm A Celeb

It's safe to say entertainment series I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! is a true staple of British TV, airing every year with Geordie duo Ant and Dec as hosts. As we await the new series in November and get excited about the new Canadian spin-off, a new version has now been teased!

Will there be a non-celeb version of I'm A Celeb?

During a chat on their Belta Box Instagram page, Ant and Dec were asked if they'd ever do a civilian version of the popular show... And it sounds like they are REALLY up for it!

Dec said: "I think it would be great", with Ant adding: "We would love to do it. We'd absolutely love to host that show because I think, they can't be random. You'd need to know who they are, they can't just walk in. But we'd cast it really well.

"On I'm A Celebrity, you don't always know the celebrities and part of the joy is getting to know them night after night. And then, really liking them or loathing them by the time you get to the end.

"So with I'm A Civilian Get Me Out Of Here, you won't know anything about them and you'll just get to know them all, like you do in Big Brother or whatever. You get to know them all then you'll have your favourites by the end of it.

"I think we should definitely do a version of that one year."

Expanding further, Dec said: "We do do it a little bit when we do the dry runs. So, every year, I don't know if anybody knows this. Every year to get back up to speed and get the camera guys working and making sure the edit works in time, we get a load of Australians. We get about 10 Australian people, we stick them in there, we film them for three or four days, we try out some trials on them. We do what we call the dry runs, so we do kind of do versions, and they're always really interesting."

Fans were quick to express their opinions on the potential new show, one wrote: 'I have wanted this my ENTIRE LIFE!!! GET ME IN THEREEE 😭🙌', with another writing: 'Yes!! This sounds great'. (sic)

A third wrote: 'Do a mix one! Celeb and civilians', with someone else suggesting: 'ITS NOT A WANT BUT A NEED!!!!! Like I NEED a version of this so I can apply!!!!!'. (sic)

This isn't the first time Ant and Dec have teased the possibility of a civilian version of the show.

Back in November last year, whilst they were out in Australia filming the 2025 series, the pair took part in a live Q&A on Instagram, where they were also asked the question.

Dec said at the time: "I'm a civilian get me out of here", with Ant adding: "We'd like to see it, but I don't think we have time to do both."

Ant then asked fans: "Would you watch it if we did it?", with Dec saying: "Would you do it?"

As Ant said: "Should we do it as a one off? Just try it?", the crew were filled with joy, shouting "yes".

So, although there's nothing official just yet, could we see I'm a Civilian Get Me Out Of Here! in the future!

I'm A Celeb first hit our screens way back in 2002 and has become one of the most-loved entertainment shows in the last two decades. The show has featured a number of high-profile celebs over the years, including the likes of Peter Andre, Sam Thompson, Stacey Solomon, Harry Redknapp and Nigel Farage.

With the 2026 series due in November, ITV/STV announced a new spin-off series for the show's 25th anniversary next year, called I'm A Celeb: The Wild Frontier.
