After four years, Charlie Brooker's anthology series Black Mirror returned with a sixth series back in 2023, and now Netflix bosses have confirmed a seventh series will return in this year!

Following a negative response to many episodes within series six, Charlie Brooker has since dubbed the new series "original Black Mirror", with a mix of episode themes. Here's everything we know so far about the new series.

Is Black Mirror coming back?

Announcing the news as part of their #NextonNetflix update on Thursday 14th March 2024, a short teaser trailer was released, revealing the series will be made up of six new episodes, with one in particular being very familiar...

The caption read: 'Six new stories, but one looks a little familiar. Black Mirror returns 2025. #NextOnNetflix'. (sic)

Then, on 19th September 2024, Netflix bosses released a further teaser trailer, with the caption: 'Black Mirror S7 - coming 2025. #GeekedWeek'. (sic)

The short clip appears to show a list of names on a computer being 'hacked', but Netflix are yet to reveal any further details about any of the new episodes.

When will series 7 air?

Netflix have confirmed series seven will begin on Thursday 10th April 2025.

Is there a trailer?

Yes! The first trailer was released on Thursday 13th March, showing clips from all six upcoming new episodes in series seven. The video was captioned with: 'Lose your mind. Lose your reality. The Emmy Award winning series returns with six new stories. Nothing is as it seems.'

Which episode is getting a sequel?

It's now been confirmed the 'familiar' story will be a sequel to series four episode USS Callister, which featured Jesse Plemons as Robert Daly.

Also starring actors Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, Michaela Coel and Billy Magnussen, the popular episode sees Jesse's character Robert create a simulated reality within a game, where he's the spaceship commander with his real-life employees as his crew.

As fans will know, the episode ends with Robert found dead and the rest of the crew in danger, with the new teaser saying: “Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning,”

Although it doesn't look like Jesse Plemons will be returning for the sequel, it's now been confirmed that Milanka Brooks, Osy Ikhile, Billy Magnussen, Cristin Milioti, Paul G. Raymond and Jimmi Simpson will feature.

What will the other episodes be called?

At this stage, no episode names have been announced, but creator Charlie Brooker said in September last year: “You can expect a mix of genres and styles.

“We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.”

How many episodes will it have?

Series seven will be made up of six new episodes.

How can I watch it?

Just like the past six series, series seven will be available on Netflix.

Series one-six of Black Mirror is available now on Netflix, with series seven dropping on 10th April.
