Check out all of these facts you probably didn't know about The Script:
1) Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan had been best friends since they were 12
They used to be in boyband Mytown together, put together by none other than Louis Walsh!
2) Danny and Mark produced songs by Britney Spears, Boyz II Men and TLC
They lived in Los Angeles together, and had a call from Danny's future co-star on The Voice will.i.am, who requested a song for Britney's 2013 album 'Britney Jean' - and they co-wrote 'Now That I Found You'!
3) 'If You Could See Me Now' was written in memory of Danny's late father
Danny's dad Shay sadly passed away on Valentine's Day in 2008, six months before the band's hugely successful self-titled debut album. He has a rose tattoo in memory of him.
4) The band name was inspired by the time they spent living in LA
Apparently, everyone was always talking about film scripts, and the pair would often joke and say: "What's the script?" instead of: "What's up?"
5) Danny apparently shared his pay from The Voice with his bandmates
Danny was a judge on The Voice for the first two series of the show in 2012 and 2013.
6) When he was 17, Danny accidentally spilled wine over The Edge
That's the U2 guitarist, by the way. U2's manager also managed Danny, and the groups spent time together one evening - during which Danny got rather inebriated and fell down a flight of stairs in front of Bono!
7) They once spent a whopping £22k round on drinks for 8,000 people
They told us all about it in November 2019. Mark explained: "Last year when we did the Freedom Charter we bought the biggest round of drinks in history," he explained, as his bandmate Danny added: "Yes, 8,000 drinks - do you know how much the bar bill was? £22,000. Imagine me waking up the next morning and checking my wallet, I was like, 'Oh no'."
8) All of their studio albums have been to Number 1 in Ireland
That's 'The Script' (2008), 'Science & Faith' (2010), '#3' (2012), 'No Sound Without Silence' (2014), 'Freedom Child' (2017) and 'Sunsets & Full Moons' (2019).
9) The Man Who Can’t Be Moved spent over a year in the UK charts
63 weeks, to be exact!
The Script, who formed in Dublin in 2007, have so far released six studio albums, including their 2019 serving 'Sunsets & Full Moons', as well as earlier albums 'Science & Faith' and 'Freedom Child'.
Their new album ‘Tales From The Script’ compiles all of the biggest hits and fan favourites from their six albums so far.
It highlights the classic cuts from the trio’s catalogue, taking in the likes of the Number 1 smash ‘Hall of Fame’ (featuring will.i.am) and the Top 10 hits ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’, ‘For The First Time’ and ‘Superheroes’. It also includes landmark moments and staples of their live show including ‘Breakeven’, their debut single ‘We Cry’ and ‘Rain’.
