The United Kingdom haven't exactly done amazing at Eurovision in recent years, with our highest position in the last ten years coming in 2011 when Blue manged to place 5th with their track 'I Can'.
After poor Michael Rice only managed 11 points during the contest out in Tel Aviv in 2019, this year the UK have enlisted the help of one of Ed Sheeran's songwriter James Newman, who is also the brother of 'Love Me Again' singer John Newman!
The news was announced on the official UK Eurovision Twitter account this morning (Thursday 27th February), writing, 'Meet @JamesNewmanUk representing the UK at #Eurovision 2020 with ‘My Last Breath’!' (sic)
This year's song is called 'My Last Breath' and has serious potential for memorable Eurovision performance out in Rotterdam in May.
Although James isn't as well-known as his younger brother John Newman, the singer, who grew up in the Yorkshire Dales, was a massive key to John's success, introducing him to Rudimental.
James went on to write Number 1 hit single 'Waiting All Night' for Rudimental and Ella Eyre, which earned him a BRIT Award in 2014 for British Single of the Year.
Following the success of the single, James was able to become a full-time songwriter, going on to write for major artists like Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, Louis Tomlinson, Jess Glynne, Kesha, Jessie Ware and Toni Braxton, which led to him receiving a GRAMMY nomination.
However, he's not only a brilliant songwriter, James is also a phenomenal vocalist, proving himself on Eurioision single 'My Last Breath'.
