Just last month, 'Salamander Street' singer Callum Beattie announced he would be going on tour later this year, playing across Scotland. And now, the singer has released his next song 'Something In My Eye', which is about his mental health.

At the time of the song's announcement, Callum explained in a lengthy statement: 'I have had a journey of absolutely enormous ups and downs in the music business.

'What got me to here has involved a massive amount of self belief, and a sense of knowingness that eventually the right people would come along who would support not just my musical vision, but my personal life too.

'That’s what I have now, and I’m grateful for eternity for it - every day of my life, I try to remember to give thanks for Dave and all the amazing people we are constantly surrounded by.

'During the journey, like most people, my mental health has been up and down, and that’s the reason that both Dave and I wanted to become ambassadors for @mikeysline_'.

He continued: 'This single is all about our mental health and if it resonates with even a handful of people, I’ve done my job.

'When Dave told me that both @samheughan and @rikrankin wanted to be in our wee video I didn’t actually believe him. But I’m now delighted to be able to call both of those legends friends, and that’s a very special thing to me - I’m very grateful for their support.

'We also owe an enormous debt of gratitude to @simon_baron_hay for his epic direction and much valued love and friendship too. The exact same applies to Michael Wilson, without whom none of this would have happened - all of these people will be friends for life - sometimes you just “know”.'

Callum then confirmed the release date in the caption, writing: 'The single will be released on September 27th, but you can preorder now everywhere.

'We would LOVE this to be massive, as it’s the first independent release we have had since we managed to bargain and retrieve our souls from the devil that is the music business!

'If you can spare some pennies, please download on iTunes rather than stream and let’s see how much we can achieve for the charity!

'The full video will be live soon I love you all Callum September 2024 ❤️ #itsoknotobeok'.

In the following weeks, Callum shared further information about the song, describing it on the morning of the song's release, as: 'Without a doubt, the most important record I’ve ever made!

My first as an independent artist, but more importantly, it’s in support of @mikeysline_ - doesn’t get any better than that.'
